Tony Szczechowski looked many places to learn how to better manage and grow his landscape business. But it wasn’t until he joined the LandOpt network of landscape contractors in 2013 that the owner of Pro Edge Lawn Care knew he had found the right solution.

Previously, Szczechowski had hired a local business consultant; then, he signed up for a small business coaching program. While he read all the books on learning how to better run his company, he decided he needed some help that was more specific to the green industry. He sought out a landscape consultant who ran his own business. Still, he wasn’t satisfied.
After he signed on with LandOpt, Pro Edge Lawn Care realized its biggest year of growth. At the same time, Szczechowski began decreasing his number of hours at work. He now puts in an average of 48 hours per week and makes it home most days to play with his two young sons before bedtime.
“I can relax because I know that things are still getting done at work without me,” he said. LandOpt’s professional trainings have allowed him to develop a strong team.
LandOpt also gave Szczechowski a non-competitive network of landscaping professionals that he can call on at any time for advice. “And I do call them,” he said. “We talk the same language, so it’s very helpful.”
Szczechowski’s company, which serves northwestern Ohio, now has 25 employees and $1.3 million in gross sales. But he is still dreaming of bigger things. This year, he is gearing up for more project work.
“LandOpt wants to see us grow,” he said. “My business is still in the transformation stage, but we have a plan.”
